Zoe Soilis
B.S., Allegheny College (2020)
4th Year Ph.D. student
Brief Bio
I was born and raised in Freeport, PA, a town about 30 minutes northeast of Pittsburgh. After graduating from Freeport High School in 2016, I went to Allegheny College in Meadville, PA to major in chemistry and minor in economics. While at Allegheny, I was a four-year member and two-year captain of the women’s basketball team. I was also first exposed to chemistry research while studying under Dr. Alice Deckert and exploring hollow gold nanoparticles. After (virtually) graduating from Allegheny in 2020, I decided to return home to go graduate school at Pitt, where I joined the Rosi group in 2021. My research focuses on tuning MOF color and photophysics , studying energy transfer in MOFs, utilizing MOFs for biomedical applications. Outside of the lab I enjoy trying new restaurants around Pittsburgh, cooking, riding my Peloton, cheering on the Steelers, and spending time with my friends and family.
